Nice Guy Syndrome and Boundary setting

It's great to be a Good Guy, but not so much a "Nice Guy." Robert Glover's book "No More Mr. Nice Guy" discusses many of the common traits these men (and women) exhibit, including extreme conflict avoidance, repressing one's feelings, keeping unspoken "covert contracts," poor boundary setting, taking care of everyone else before oneself, seeking approval from others, feeling the need to fix and caretake, and making another person–-especially a spouse or partner-- one's emotional center.

As a recovering Nice Guy myself, I can relate to many of these characteristics above. Through the work I have done to better understand the underlying reasons behind my Nice Guy behavior, I have gotten better at putting the oxygen mask on myself first, setting appropriate boundaries, and expressing my feelings in an authentic way. And I acknowledge that it is and likely will always be a work in progress.

During our coaching, I will share what has worked for me, and we'll come up with a solid game plan for you to address your Nice Guy thoughts and behaviors and how to move into a more mature, confident way to navigate through life.
